Do not know the truth: you will get attached to it and that will be Self-destructive. So do not have anticipations, hopes, and expectations.
The Self is worth preserving: you do that by making it free of knowledge. This is because the Self is Brahman, the source and cause of Creation: if you pollute that with knowledge you lose your creativity.
Surrender word is not appropriate in advaita. When you have become the Self there is doer left. You are automatically acting correctly in Self-preservation.
Do not doubt this statement: Freedom of the mind (liberation) comes from being non-judgmental and unattached to everything: that is the purpose of yoga, the union as advaita.
One does not get truth with a claustrophobic mind.
Controlling one's mind generates Ignorance. The mind should be free.
